About Laurie

K&L at wedding closeup.jpg

Laurie is a Christian singer, song-writer, speaker, published author, professor and Bible teacher.  Laurie was left a partial paraplegic at the age of 14 due to injuries sustained in a car accident caused by a drunk driver and not being medically treated properly by a doctor who was also under the influence when she arrived at the hospital. She has dealt with adversity but has seen how God works through even the most horrible circumstances. Jesus Christ transformed her life through this car accident and today she has a deep passion for teaching biblical principles.  Laurie has ministered around the United States and in Moldova, Russia, France, and Germany.  Her husband Kevin is a military Chaplain and their family is no stranger to ministry. Laurie and Kevin have three children: Luke, Lydiaruth, and Canaan. Laurie completed her Ed.D. in Christian Leadership at Liberty University in Fall 2023. She is a part-time professor for Anderson University and is also available for speaking events. She has experience speaking to groups of all ages.

“Laurie Thompson was my student at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary almost two decades ago. She and her husband Kevin have a wonderful family and a heart for ministry. Through great physical challenges, Laurie has managed her household, helped her husband, and nurtured her children and still found time to pour out time and energies in ministry through her gift in music and inspiring pen.”

"Someone has wisely said, 'The mark of the mature Christian is not what happens to them, but how they respond to what happens to them!'...Laurie Thompson clearly shows that she has that special touch of maturity. Her response to a tragic accident is an incredible testimony to her love for Jesus and her determination to be 'above her problems' rather than beneath them."
