A Lesson From Chocolate & Bon Bons

"How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!"

Psalm 119:103

Recently, I took this picture in downtown Anderson and I will be the first to admit it, YO GIRL LOVES SWEETS! Yet, as much as I love chocolates, desserts, and candy I realize that I must be mindful of how much I eat and moderation is necessary. After all, it is true that too much of a good thing isn't so good, right? That’s not the case when it comes to spending time with God. The writer of this verse in Psalms compares the reading of God's Word to sweetness indicating its value and beauty while also implying the innate desire for it, "How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!" I can relate to this passage because I have come to truly seek time in God's Word daily and I revel in the wisdom within, the confirmation of His love for me, and all of the timeless principles which help me daily. It gives me hope and a sense of purpose. Now I will be honest, reading God's Word used to feel like a task I simply checked off my to-do list, or I would do it begrudgingly because I felt like I just 'had to do it.' Now, I realize that I GET to do it! What a gift it is for me and when I read, it is such a sweet time of communion with my Creator! Nothing satisfies my soul more! So, yes I do need to limit my intake of sugar, but I can never spend too much time in God's Word. And THAT'S a craving I never want to lose!
